Compare/Contrast Blog

The first essay "Columbus and the moon", is about the National Aeronautics and Space Administrations (NASA). NASA made a series of voyages and landed 6 men on the moon. Columbus made four voyages that he thought was the east coast of Asia. In result of theses two missions the both of them has to constantly ask the government for money to fund all of the voyages. The second essay "Life in a Bundle of Letters", talks about how letters used to be the way of communication then cell phones become popular basically, taking over lives. The two topics are comparison by communication. Both essays compare and contrast two different topics. Life in a Bundle of Letters is a discussion of cell phones taking over everyone's ability for in-person communication. We do not care of the world around us but only what our friends are doing miles away. While in Mexico, people are worried about posting how their vacation is going for others than just living in the moment. It is like...

3 Types of High School Teachers

3 Types of High School Teachers High school teachers are the people that basically raise you into a grown up for the real world. They teach you everything primal to survive for education, real life situations, and career wise. One of my high school teachers definitely focused on the teaching aspect so we could be more wise for the future. Like, she would make us read and dissect book after book after book to be  more informative and see the deeper side of things. Another one of my high school teachers absolutely amazing in being not only a teacher but a friend. He would push you to be your upmost best in the classroom but in other situations with clubs and that reflected on real-life situations. The last that comes to mind would focus on what career path the student would want to take and let that student focus on those main criteria's to be the best at their choice of career. That teacher would help search for jobs and what education process was needed. All these different teac...

3 Types of Friends I Have

3 Types of Friends I Have I will be talking about the three types of friends I have. The first type of friend is what my friend group calls the "mom" of the group. The "mom" of the group would be Kayli. She is a planner and makes sure everyone is well taken care of. One time at a party I remember Kayli calling each of us to make sure we were okay and we were safe at home. I appreciate her for that. My other friend, Makenzie or Kenzie for short is definitely the more fun and wild one of the group. She is the one who talks you into drinking more or to be more adventurous. I would also, say that she is hilarious in a goofy but serious way, if that makes sense. She is hands-down the funniest of the group but also the one that will listen and help you with anything you need. She is well needed and open-hearted. Now, my third friend is the wise, brutally-honest friend. Her name is Sage. She has been my friend since seventh grade. She is a great friend that tells it lik...

The Second Essay Opinion

The 2nd Essay This essay I feel as though, is definitely more difficult. I struggle with writing in 3rd person. Examples and works cited are also difficult for me. Works cited takes a lot of researching, studying, and thinking. If you miss one detail on the works cited it is automatically wrong. That is a part of what makes works cited difficult. You either have it down or you do not. It is a gamble turning them in. Examples are difficult for me because my brain goes dead once it tries to find something to reference. Examples are easy when knowing the item you are referencing. Writing in 3rd person is difficult because I want to talk about my situations and make it more personal but with an illustrative essay its more of an example essay not personal. So, I will need help to keep on track with examples, work cited, and 3rd person writing.

When to Cite

When to Cite In an essay works citing is crucial to avoid plagiarism. When citing a quote, information, fact, and research you will need to site the details of the article. Writing an article and quoting a book or website then you would type the author, date written, the name of the article and etc. If i quote Harry Potter then I would need to know the author and what page the quote is from in the book. For example, in Maya Angelou's book 'I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings' she says  “Instead, pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people can't take their eyes off you”(32).

Help with MLA Format

Help with MLA Format MLA Format is difficult in remembering every single detail that goes in to it. Every detail matters. If you mess up one thing then its an automatic 'you do not have it'... I need help with remembering every tiny detail. Like, putting the page number and your last name will be confusing to me for a little while til i get the hang of it. In class, I would like to cover a little bit more of the works cited and the steps of what to put where and what are some things that wont be put in some MLA formats. For example, I did a works cited page the other day and there was no Publisher to be found but it would've been nice to know instead of me looking for it for 15 minutes. Works cited will need a lot of practice and I speak about that for everyone in the class, as well.

College Students Everyday Life Struggles

College Student's Everyday Life Struggles I believe there is some truth in college students struggling through schoolwork while everyday life is constantly happening around us. I have personal experience in this case. I go to school, work, and i am a newly-wed. As a college student, I go Monday thru Thursday. As an employee, I work in between, before, and after school time. As a newly-wed, I am constantly cleaning, cooking, and spending family time with my husband. College students need time for class, homework, and studying which takes hours of a persons time. Employees are working for their means to live. That means I can't not work if i want to go to college. Being a newly-wed comes with trial and error of married ways. I come home to make sure my husband comes home to a clean house, and I cook most nights unless, we go out on a date. Sometimes, I even think days do not have enough hours. Your suppose to sleep for at least 8 hours so that leaves sixteen hours of college, ...

Social Media = No Socializing

Social media= No socializing Social media has taken over the world. I feel as though social media is no more of a place to socialize and a place to get away like, writing or photography. Face-to-face interaction is more awkward than ever. Social has became a place to hide your face and feelings behind a screen. More people are starting to feel more comfortable with no interaction with other persons. Strangers on social media are more opt to talk to each other than in real life situations. Comfort is what others want in this life. No one takes a leap anymore in life. More leaps mean more socialization. More socialization means to be more open. Most of everyone wants to seek comfort in their home of no talking. I believe social media should be limited so others can seek discomfort.

Best Friend

Best Friend The best friend of anyone's dreams. The one most special person that life chose for you. You weren't born with this person attached to your hip like, family, family friends and etc. I believe that a best friend is the one person that you can fully trust with all your personal secrets. The best friend should be the most trusting person near to your heart. For example, my best friend, Sage would come get me off the side of the road if I had car troubles. My best friend was actually my Maid of Honor at my wedding and she even got the honor to zip up the back of my dress even though, mothers are suppose to do that tradition. Best friends are the people that stop everything to make sure you are okay. So, find the best friend that would sit on the floor while you are crying to the one that dives in to your peer pressure on crazy nights. Find your person.

Kindness

Kindness  I do not recall an act of kindness from a stranger. I will say that when i think of kindness i think of my late Aunt Cathy. Aunt Cat is what I always called her. My Aunt Cat basically, wore a halo around her head everywhere she went. I never saw an ounce of anger or hatred in her beautiful heart. Most of everyone that new her would absolutely fall in love with her spirit. She was thoughtful and never boasted. She new God and loved Him with her whole being. Kindness does not even cover of how she treated others. The biggest thing of how I remember her is her number one rule. The Golden Rule. Treat others like you want to be treated. Wow, what a wonderful woman. She believed that with everything she had for her whole life. Her life was surrounded by treating others as she wanted to be treated. She was a very special lady to very many people. She was loved and she was love. I saw Jesus in her a lot. That speaks mountains of what kind of lady she was. So, when I think kind...

Peer Revision

Peer Revision The last day i went to class. we barely went over peer revision. I hate skipping class because i know that i always learn new important things in class. I'm guessing peer revision is where the teacher looks over your paper and gives you pointers on what you could work on for your paper. I find that so helpful but i just was not able by any means to be in the class last Wednesday. I hope Monday will be a great day of learning. I will look up peer revision and ask questions to learn more about it. The peer revision process will help me because working with others and seeing their point of views will be wonderful for my mind to wander about my topic. I hope to learn more soon.

Most Frustrating Part of Writing

Most Frustrating Part Of Writing The most frustrating part of writing for me would be finding details and wording those details. I can find topics to talk about in my essays i just don't know how to find the details to back up those topics. I get word block pretty easy as well. I cant write essays as easy as i write journals or blogs. Essays are more formal writing and I just like to write about what i am feeling or thinking in that moment. I want to take my essays away without being formal and i know that is not possible. It would not be an essay if it was not formal. I wonder what other people get frustrated about when writing... I just need more time to write essays and more help when writing. I would rather stick to blogs and journals but i know that would be crazy. Especially, for a college student.

Our Beliefs

Our Beliefs This blog entry asked of one person that I recognized to have the same belief as me. The belief that is most important to me. Maybe, that belief that I chose is Christianity. There's multiple people that come to mind but the most special person that comes to mind is my late aunt Cathy. She basically wore a halo around her and she didn't even recognize it but everyone she came in contact with, always noticed the beam of light coming from her. I recognized that light as Jesus' love. She was not one to drink alcohol, smoke, and I never heard her say a curse word a day in my life. She shined her saintly light and I strive to have a light just as bright as hers some day.

This I Believe-Thirty Things I Believe

"This I Believe- Thirty Things I Believe" "Thirty Things I Believe" by Tarak McLain was written in the first grade when he was seven years old. It was the hundredth day of school and he chose to write his beliefs instead of taking a simple show and tell like the other children. As a seven year old you never really think about things like, war, love, christianity and so many more traits but Mr. McLain did. Some of the beliefs that this young child wrote could change the world. I'll tell you about some of the beliefs. One was ' I believe war should stop.' What a powerful message from a child. His mind grasped the concept of hurt and danger. Another belief of his was 'I believe that love is everywhere.' This is a belief I find to be really impacting. He also says 'I believe God is everywhere.' He's a young child that already has the faith as strong as an ox. I will strive to show off my beliefs as he did someday. To put my words out i...

This I Believe- The Art of Being A Neighbor

"This I Believe- The Art Of Being A Neighbor" "The Art Of  Being A Neighbor" by Eve Birch is a little insight into the 'American Dream'. She tried so hard to work for that dream of a basic white picket fence. Turns out that the dream turned into reality. Through some hard times she found herself renting a home in the middle of nowhere to her. She was lost but the kind neighbors around her wanted her to know that she was not alone. The neighbors offered her company and some men offered gifts to court her but she liked her singleness. After constant hard work she ended up poor and the art of being a neighbor that was poor as well truly helped her get through her rough patch in life. Be a friendly neighbor because youre not very sure of what that person might be going through.

This I Believe- Listening Is Powerful Medicine

"This I Believe- Listening Is Powerful Medicine" "Listening Is Powerful Medicine" by Dr. Alicia Conill is a powerful essay about taking a moment to listen to others. I will tell you about some of the pointers that the author gives on listening. The first one is to sit down to listen so the person that is talking can recognize your attention for their story. The second teaching is to make eye contact meaning to not look at notes or computer. The last note is to put your hand on the patient. Focus on the story and let the person talking know that you are all ears. Sometimes people need to talk to release built up energy wether it's good energy or energy that is hurting them. So, I urge you to sit sometime and just be all ears.

6 Secrets To College Success

6 Secrets to College Success The six secrets to college success and why... I want to start out with the first "secret" I feel that is most important. The most important is needing to work hard outside of the classroom. Speaking for myself, I definitely have a full life with barely any time to do anything other than work, go to school, and do homework. I need to strive to make more time to work on homework assignments and study. The second secret is to go to class every day. You are constantly learning new things and for busy college students, a day out of class can really be a big step back. The third secret is to turn off your phone and i find that a big problem in distraction. I get distracted by my phone easily because I think someone needs me but I am going to start working on that by leaving my phone on vibration. The fourth secret is meeting other/new people in class. I haven't made any friends in college yet. I usually just got to school then got to work but I w...

What Do I Hope To Get Out Of Class?

What do I hope to get out of this class? This year, I hope to get out of this class better writing skills. In this case, better typing skills. I enjoy writing. I feel as though its a way of expression. I feel like I never have time to write. There's so many ways to feel fulfilled like reading, writing, painting, even going on a walk or go running. I hope this class gives me more time to express my thoughts. That is a skill I would like to improve. What i really hope to learn in this class is better writing skills and find more time to express my thoughts wether it is blogging or writing.

The Introduction Of Me

The Introduction of Me Hi, I want to start by introducing my name. My name is Taylor BrieAnne Eiland. I honestly go by my middle name, Brie, to most of everyone and my last name recently got changed to Eiland instead of Cantrell. All of my classes say 'Cantrell' because I keep forgetting to bring my marriage licenses to the main office. I got married to the love of my life in November. November 16, 2019 to be exact. I am young and married.... I get that that is crazy. Especially, for this generation. I am 20 and my husband is 21. We have a pitbull named Diesel, a cat named River, and a beta fish named, Sushi. I have lived in Seale, Al since August. I moved to Seale from Reeltown, Al which is a little over an hour away. Reeltown is a very tiny town so moving here was very different. I lived here for 5 months and haven't had the chance to make any new friends yet and all of my family lives in Reeltown so, the only people I have down here is my husband, Trevor and his fami...
